Using the mini Ring Core Calculator application will make it easier for amateur radio enthusiasts to calculate inductors, numbers of turns, wire lengths, and many other factors related to both powdered iron and ferrite toroids. In addition, the program will also enable you to calculate parameters for air wound coils used in the construction of linear amplifiers, low pass filters and antenna matching units.
This calculator presents a single-window interface when launched with tabs for Iron Powder Toroids, Ferrite FT, ring cores from Ferroxcube (Philips), Unknown Cores, Air Cores, and ring cores from EPCOS. The program displays calculations as you enter your values; for example, to calculate for iron powder cores, enter the inductance value after selecting the desired core from the drop down lists. The calculated number of turns will be displayed immediately. In the application section, next, select the MHZ for a quick view about the behavior of the core under applied frequency and voltage. Finally, the temperature rise can be calculated when you input the voltage value, and inserting the number of turns will calculate the inductance.
This multifunctional program also calculates AL and Permeability for unknown cores, calculates the component values of a resonant circuit, and will also calculate the resistance of the copper winding wire for you simply by selecting the appropriate feature in the Tools menu. The program is also multilingual and comes in English, German, and French languages.
